“I connect with kids really well. Everything is new, exciting and fun to them.”
Schedule: Mondays 9:00am Kids class
Deanna started teaching yoga, movement and flexibility to children when she was not much more than a kid herself. She now has logged eight years as a children’s movement teacher, and brings her joy of working with kids to P.S. Yoga’s Mommy and Me and Kids’ Yoga classes. Deanna’s goal is to introduce yoga to kids in a fun way so that they learn to be aware of their bodies and to appreciate movement. Her classes also teach kids the value of living in the present moment. “I believe the strongest thing one can learn from yoga is living in the now, experiencing every moment as it happens, and gaining an appreciation for getting to experience that moment,” she said. Deanna started her own movement training with ballet and tap classes when she was just 3 years old. She went on to cheerleading in high school and formal dance study in the Iowa Dance program while attending the University of Iowa. She also taught yoga and other movement classes at the National Dance Academy, a school in Iowa for children ages 3 to 18. She says she grew very fond of working with children and witnessing the passion and spontaneity they bring to class. “I get a lot of joy from working with them,” she said.
